Molly Armanino

I can only admire the beauty of the mountains, be grateful for their existence, and my place in them.

About >

Molly Armanino is a professional freeride skier from South Lake Tahoe, California, celebrated for her fearless approach to big-mountain terrain and her commitment to climate advocacy. Born and raised in Placerville, she began skiing at age 2 and competed in alpine racing until 18, before stepping away from the sport for several years. After earning a degree in ecology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, she returned to skiing with a renewed passion for backcountry exploration and competition.

Molly's competitive breakthrough came in 2022, when she dominated the Freeride World Tour (FWT) Qualifiers with four consecutive first-place finishes, earning her a wildcard entry to the 2023 FWT season. In her rookie year, she secured podium finishes at Baqueira Beret and Ordino-Arcalís, ultimately finishing second overall in the Ski Women's category.

Despite facing challenges, including a severe frostbite injury that led to the loss of her big toe, she made a triumphant return in 2025, claiming her first FWT victory at the Kicking Horse Golden BC Pro with a bold and fluid run that showcased her technical prowess and creative line choices. Her performance in 2025 qualified her for World Championships, a new FIS qualifiying circuit for the Olympics.

Beyond the slopes, Molly is the CEO of the Tahoe Climate Change Action Network (TCCAN), a nonprofit dedicated to promoting renewable energy and environmental stewardship in the Lake Tahoe region.

Her personal journey, including the loss of her brother Sam, is poignantly captured in her 2025 film Slopes of Change, which delves into themes of grief, resilience, and the healing power of the mountains. Known for her adventurous spirit and advocacy, Molly continues to inspire both on and off the mountain, pushing the boundaries of freeride skiing while championing the protection of the natural world she so deeply cherishes.
